How we authenticate Saint Laurent
The Cassandre YSL monogram is the first check: on authentic hardware the letters interlock at precise angles with a consistent finish and weight, and the plate sits flush rather than proud. We read the interior stamp — the house changed its wording and placement across eras, and the stamp must agree with the model and hardware in front of us. We then examine chevron or matelassé alignment across seams, stitch density, zip branding and edge painting. Our authentication partners support each assessment, with a final inspection at least 48 hours before shipment.
Condition, honestly graded
Saint Laurent's soft quilted lambskin shows corner rub and chain-strap wear on the shoulder panel before anything else, and gold hardware can lose plating at the contact points. Both are photographed and stated in the grade.
